Charlie Godet Thomas Silent Film

A print exploring the potential of fragments and painterly language as a narrative tool.

Silent Film makes use of small painted fragments left over from the making of larger works, which the artist refers to a ‘orphans’, as used in poetry to refer to lines that have potential but haven’t yet found their place in a finished poem. In Silent Film – produced on the occasion of Thomas’ show Dim Lit – Thomas humorously depicts one of the “orphans” struggling to communicate itself fully to an imagined audience who haven’t turned up for the film in question.
