This publication was created alongside BLOAT collective’s second exhibition; BLOAT II, hARTslane Gallery, 27/1/17.
The all female collaborative focuses on what a bloated form potentially constitutes, whilst exploring the powers of co-art: together creating a visual language beginning with the word ‘bloat’. In putting the ideals of individualism aside, BLOAT demonstrates the value of collaboration, fully exercising and celebrating the collective process.
For their second project this developed into BLOAT’s intervention with landscape. Set in both coastal and forest environments, the collective ran a self-led residency using an orange tarpulin as their base medium. Working collectively to explore the dynamic between environment and bloated form, the material was manipulated to create a bloat.
BLOAT II publication is the object that delivers permanent documentation of the elemental and community values of BLOAT Collective.
